What is woolly blue curls?

Woolly blue curls (Trichostema lanatum) is an evergreen shrub that belongs to the Mint family. It is native to California, Arizona, and northern Mexico and can grow up to 3 feet tall and 4 feet wide. Woolly blue curls have long, narrow leaves covered in soft, fluffy hairs and produce dense spikes of vibrant blue flowers during the summer. The flowers attract bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds and have a sweet scent. Woolly blue curls thrive in dry, sunny areas with well-draining soil and are often found in chaparral habitats. They are drought tolerant and require very little maintenance once established. The plant has been used for medicinal purposes by Native Americans for treating various ailments, including stomach aches and coughs.
